Oprah Sent Sheryl Lee Ralph a Bouquet So Big It Took Three Men to Carry It

Reading Time: 2 minutes

You’ll never find Oprah Winfrey lying on the ground during your Emmy acceptance speech…

If there’s one thing Oprah is known for—and, okay, she’s known for many things—it’s how to give a gift with a capital G. We all remember the “You get a car” meme. Now the greatest talk show host of all time is showing her admiration for first-time Emmy winner Sheryl Lee Ralph.

In a TikTok posted by Ralph’s son Etienne Maurice, the Abbott Elementary star receives a giant bouquet of pink and white flowers from Winfrey herself. “Wow, yes!” Ralph exclaims as two grown men gingerly approach her driveway with the arrangement. “Oprah, you know how to get flowers done, girl. Thank you!”

The video ultimately was cut short as Ralph’s son needed to help carry the bouquet, which was tilting precariously to the left. “Literally the biggest bouquet I’ve ever seen in my life,” Maurice wrote in the caption. “We had to carry it through the back!”

Maurice has been documenting his mother’s road to the Emmys since she was nominated for best supporting actress in a comedy series for her performance as teacher Barbara Howard in Abbott Elementary. “With over 50 years of being in this thing we call showbusiness, today my mother became an Emmy nominated actress,” he captioned a video of her receiving the call of a lifetime back in July. “I’m so proud of @thesherylralph.”

On September 12, Ralph accepted her award with the first verse of Dianne Reeves’s 1993 song “Endangered Species.” Earlier in the evening she spoke about her journey on the Emmys red carpet. “Don’t you ever give up. Don’t you ever give up on your dream,” she told Laverne Cox during E!’s Emmy preshow. “Because no matter what if it is meant for you, it will not miss you.”

Of course, her kids were there to celebrate her victory.

“I’ve envisioned this moment for my mother my whole entire life,” he captioned that TikTok. “We are so proud of you Mommy!” Just make sure to turn the volume down on your headphones before playing this one.
