The youngest royals can always be counted on to alleviate the mood with random acts of cuteness, even amidst the general gloom of Queen Elizabeth’s funeral proceedings. That was the case when Princess Charlotte instructed her brother Prince George on how to bow when their great-grandmother’s coffin passed them by. Sure, Prince George is technically closer in line for the throne than his sister Charlotte, but if these things were decided on merit and ability to follow and enforce royal protocol, the seven-year-old princess would be crowned tomorrow.

In a short video from the funeral published by People, Princess Charlotte can be seen giving her older brother detailed instructions, pointing her finger for emphasis while telling George, “You need to bow,” when the royal coffin passes. Whether or not George appreciated Charlotte’s advice (older brothers do tend to resent being told what to do by their little sisters) is not for me to say. He certainly appeared attentive and did follow her lead when she curtsied as the coffin passed. (See the video here.)
